2012 is upon us!

Where did 2011 go is a good question but one that is sort of moot at this point. What the New Year means to many of us is hope. Hope on a large scale that our world will be a better place in 2012. Or, on a personal basis, we may be hopeful that we can be more disciplined to actually do our yoga or mediation on a daily basis.

Hope is very powerful. The existence of hope can be comforting and uplifting. The absence of hope can be devastating. All too often people can literally suffer when they give up hope. We need to nurture this four letter word and all that it can mean.

The New Year brings the promise of many things, of new beginnings, of rebirth and awakening. We can choose to make 2012 a great year – Yes, we can choose. Growing up, one of my life lessons from my Mom was, “life is what you make it”. And it is true! We can find the good in every situation or we can choose to see the bad. But it is a choice. Our attitude determines the outcome. One of my favorite quotes speaks to attitude: “If you can't change your situation, change your attitude.” - Maya Angelou

HOPE

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune--without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

~ Emily Dickinson

I hope you choose to make the New Year the best it can be and that it brings all of us abundant blessings and HOPE!

Yours in health,
